Photography for models

I do a lot of photography for models and actors but I rarely find a face so amazing.  The lovely Brianna is from L&M modeling and talent.  Lorraine Boushell did makeup/hair.  Headshot and zed card photography for models.

Fashion photography

What I miss most about shooting with film is getting in the darkroom and making my own black and white prints.  Fashion photography can be dramatic in color or B/W  but there is something about the look and the feel of true black and white imagery that is special.  It has a drama to it.  I worked for a short time (only because they only made it for a short time!) with a black and white polaroid slide film that you would process immediately with a small little crank machine and it would produce these amazing, grainy, B/W transparencies.  I LOVED it.   I still have my little machine and my film cameras hoping one day it might return.    I plan to do some personal testing with B/W for some new fashion images…so I’m always looking for interested hair/makeup/models to join me!!

Book jacket cover photography

Recently I had an opportunity to do another photography session for an author.  Kim Cabill has her first book coming out very soon and needed book jacket cover photography to add the finishing touches to the project.   What a pleasure to photograph this lovely, interesting woman.  Look for “Burdens to Blessings” out soon!

Modeling Composite Card Photography

As a photographer for many modeling agencies, I have the challenge of coming up with new ideas and shoot locations.  Recently I worked with the lovely Bailey on her modeling composite card and since she brought this adorable swim tube as a prop I thought it would be fun to take it to our local Harford County Maryland stream and have her her splashing around in a photo.  After reviewing the images, I wasn’t crazy about how the water had turned out…kind of a brownish tone from the recent rain.  I suddenly had an idea of removing her image from the stream and giving her a new pool to swim in!  I photographed pool water separately and like magic she was splashing in pretty blue pool water vs the brownish Winter’s Run stream.  So this is proof you can’t believe what you see anymore in a photograph, even in a teen modeling composite card photography shoot!

Fashion editorial photography for HC Style Magazine

We had a great time doing this fashion editorial on a very hot, humid day in June.  Luckily all involved were good sports, particularly the beautiful Rebecca.  The Mt. Felix Vineyard has a gorgeous female mastiff as it’s mascot and she had just had puppies a few weeks before.  As we were finishing up our shoot one of the puppies came to visit.  Obviously we all thought this was adorable and Rebecca started to pose with the little guy.  The pup had other ideas, no interest in being a model and a very specific interest in her socks.  I snapped these adorable out-takes as he very impolitely stole the socks right off her feet!

I can’t show you the finished images since they have not yet been published in HC Style magazine.  However I really wanted to show you these funny shots that in the old days would have just been displayed in my darkroom for my own amusement.  These posts are a great way to share!   Fashion editorial photography is my absolutely favorite thing to do and I want to thank the models Rebecca and Ting Ting along with stylists Caitlyn Meyer and Lisa Jones-Butz.

Corporate event photography: Color Zoom Judging

I worked for one of my favorite companies today.  Goldwell/KPSS makes some of the most amazing hair colors and hair care products on the planet and they are based right here in Baltimore Maryland.  Their Color Zoom challenge is open to stylists all over the world to showcase the newest products and styles.  This amazing group of industry professionals was gathered at Baltimore’s new Four Seasons Hotel to judge some of this years North American entries.  I was thrilled to meet Maggie Mulhern from Modern Salon magazine.  She was just featured in an episode of Style Network’s own Jerseylicious.

MD Live! Casino opening in Maryland

If you live in the Maryland/DC area I’m sure you’ve heard about the opening of the MD Live! Casino.  Earlier this year they opened their doors to take job applications…they brought over 2000 new jobs to the Baltimore area.  I was there when the doors opened, some folks waiting in line for hours to apply. Every news station was there to cover the event.  In about 1 hour, the doors open for the first time to customers, good luck all!

New Moon Theater

New Moon Theater came to my studio today.  They take their “on location” stage to schools, libraries, summer camps…you name it!  They perform to kids all over Maryland.  I am amazed at what they can do with a few boxes of props, some gorgeous hand painted backdrops, enthusiasm and a whole lot of talent.   Julie and Tom organize and run this wonderful theater and introduced me to Nora, their lovely new actress.  These photos will be used on brochures, on their website and on postcards to advertise their new shows for the upcoming season.

Beautiful Bailey- model portfolio photography

I just worked with Bailey and what a beauty!  We did six looks to start her first modeling portfolio.  Model portfolio photography is one of my favorite types of shoots.  We spend approx. 3-4 hours shooting in the studio and outdoors to create images that are used on Zed cards, also called composite cards and websites.
